First World Problems in Full Effect at the T by Alexander Wang "Secret Event" | Video

Alexander Wang is one of the youngest designers doing it, and it is, perhaps, this youthfulness that gives his work such intuitive sharpness. As a part of T by Alexander Wang‘s Fall 2013 campaign, Wang invited select fans to a secret event in Manhattan’s West Side. Here, the fans were revealed a special, gratuitous surprise, showcased in the video above. Whether by purpose or not, Wang (along with director Darren Stein) have done well to comment on the line between high fashion and streetwear. The above is vaguely reminiscent of a certain sad, late-2011 scene, yet aptly points out how audiences across the board are strikingly similar when put in certain contexts. Notably, Stein also directed 1999’s dark comedy Jawbreaker – one of Wang’s favorites – and as such has referenced the final ‘prom’ scene of the film.
