In light of the Southbank dispute with London’s city council, that which threatens the demise of an English skateboarding mecca, acclaimed skate filmmaker Henry Edwards-Wood created an awe-inspiring video to raise awareness of Southbank’s profound culture. Edwards-Wood captured the coexistence of both spectator and skater, telling the story of not only the present, but the deep-rooted history of the spot. The film is cheekily titled “Dear Jude,” which is a reference to Southbank Centre creative director Judith Pamela Kelly. The above can be seen as a response to Kelly, who recently urged the Long Live Southbank committee to “see the bigger picture” of Southbank’s ‘modernization.’
