Zack Snyder took to Comic-Con to announce a sequel to his summer blockbuster, Man of Steel, and has teased the introduction of a new crucial character: fellow masked vigilante and everyone’s favorite dark hero, Batman. Making the announcement by reading Bruce Wayne’s famed threat to Clark Kent in DC’s epic graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns, Snyder let fans put the pieces together before admitting that it was inevitable to bring “the greatest superheroes in the world” together on screen. Said to take inspiration from The Dark Knight graphic novel series that featured Superman and Batman as sworn enemies, the sequel will be loosely based on, but not an exact rendition of, the short series. Set to release in 2015, Henry Cavill will return to portray Superman, while the casting for Batman still appears to be unknown.
