Darwin Deez - You Can't Be My Girl

Confusing at first to say the least, Darwin Deez‘s latest “You Can’t Be My Girl” visuals open up more like a YouTube advertisement than that of an Indie music video. Superimposing himself over what appears to be commercial stock footage, frontman Darwin Smith is seen cheekily singing the lyrics of the song as an outcast over footage of happy couples interacting through the various stages of their life together. An all-but-subtle nod at the lyrical desperation of the song, the video for “You Can’t Be My Girl” ads a whole new meaning to the full length’s title, Songs for Imaginative People.
