Even though Drake’s Nothing Was The Same sprung an early leak, it looks like the Young Money artist still moved plenty of numbers in his debuting week. Topping Billboard’s sales charts, Drake’s album sold an estimated 658,000 copies, according to HDD. The accomplishment was only bested this year by Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience, which debut at No. 1 with roughly 968,000 copies sold. Drake’s third solo album is also his third consecutive No. 1 album, and it’s currently projected to go platinum before the year ends. Drake’s sales look to mark the largest sales week for a hip-hop album since Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV debuted at No. 1 with 964,000 units sold back in September of 2011. Other albums to top the charts this week include rock band Kings of Leon’s Mechanical Bull, which landed in at No. 2 (115,000 units sold) and Cher’s Closer To The Truth at No. 3 (61,500 units sold).
