As BEAMS readies the introduction of its upcoming Fall/Winter 2012 collection, the Japanese brand recently made the trip to northwest Ireland to take a look inside the production of the area’s signature Donegal Tweed from manufacturer Molloy & Sons. Established last year by Shaun Molloy and his son Keiran, the two-man operation produces countless shades of the region’s signature fabric using traditional methods and machinery. Here, BEAMS takes a look inside the Molloy & Sons workshop as father and son speak on the production of the fabrics and the philosophies behind its creation. Molloy & Sons’ Donegal Tweed, known for its beautiful multicolored speckling, can be found throughout BEAMS’ designs for the fall/winter season.
