SAWA 2012 Fall/Winter Lookbook
Among the new wave of shoe labels manufacturing their wares in Africa — Oliberte and soleRebels

Among the new wave of shoe labels manufacturing their wares in Africa — Oliberte and soleRebels being two others of note — SAWA is often credited with being the first of the lot to explore shoemaking on the great continent. Combining a refined aesthetic with socially-conscious activism, SAWA shoes are legitimate footwear options with the added benefit of helping an area of the world in need. For Fall/Winter 2012, the label has created a suede collection of low-cut and mid-cut styles in grey and blue-based colorways, with off-white rubber soles that add a distinctively retro element to both sneakers. The lookbook was shot on location in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at a closed-down railway station and the authentic, vintage quality of the shots provides a perfect complement to the footwear.
