Community creator Dan Harmon and writer Charlie Kaufman of Being John Malkovich, Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind fame have come together to create a new stop-motion short film, “Anomalisa.” Intended to run around 40 minutes in length, the movie will focus on a man who has been crippled by his own mundane existence in day-to-day life. Produced at Starburns Industries with assists from Dino Stamatopoulos, Duke Johnson and Rosa Tran of cult stop-motion animated sitcom Moral Orel, the project is being funded via Kickstarter so as to remain outside the constraints of the typical Hollywood system and allow viewers to experience Anomalisa as it was originally conceived. Garnering nearly half of its $200,000 USD goal in just over 24 hours with close to 1,300 pledges, the project is set to remain open to backers until September 9, 2012.
