When it made landfall back in the 1950s, the original adidas Samba was a soccer trainer designed for cold or frozen pitches, but its unique traction on hard surfaces also made it a natural choice for indoor soccer. Over 60 years later, adidas is breathing new life into the best-selling and transcendent Samba, optimizing it for a different type of sporting terrain – the soft tee boxes and fast rolling greens of golf’s most prestigious tournaments. New for 2012 is the first ever adidas Golf Samba which will be available in limited quantities in four colorways, each inspired by the location and heritage of golf’s four major tournaments: the Augusta National, the U.S. Open, the British Open, and the PGA Championship. True to the original Samba silhouette, the shoe features a synthetic and water-resistant upper, but gives golfers a suede toe-guard and a six-cleat outsole for maximal traction while out on the course. The last of the four shoes (the PGA Championship edition) will be available starting on July 15 from adidas Golf.
