Katie Eary startles with early looks at her Spring/Summer 2013 collection. It may be the liberal schools of near psychedelic squirming fish and silky gold baroque, or simply the sudden and unexpected visual over-stimulation of fashion’s yawning masses. Inspired by California skateboarders, the young British designer’s shiny line of boxy silhouettes, luggage and custom skateboards use varied material from crocodile skin to silk to cotton jersey fused with neoprene. Most striking, however, is the collection’s visual assault of shimmering blue water, hypnotic fish motifs and resounding baroque print.
