We’ve seen plenty of vehicular and action sport videos shot at super-high shutter speeds for surreal levels of slow-motion, but what about Chinese cooking? Freemans Sporting Club and Sunday bring you “Mission Chinese,” a poetic and metaphor-heavy video short about a chef from Lung Shan Restaurant in San Francisco’s Mission District, reflecting on his process of using the tools of his trade to cook and serve those deserving of his time and talents. Fair warning, the video features some kitchen footage that is slightly graphic in nature, so if you’re a vegan or at work, you might want to hunker down out of sight for this one.
