$35 Million 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO Becomes World's Most Expensive Car

The world’s newly crowned ‘most expensive car’ isn’t some crazy conceptual piece or a super-rare slice of limited-edition exotic, but rather something vintage. Something uniquely lime-green and something very, very fast. This 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO once belonged to legendary British race driver Sterling Moss — in fact, it was custom-made specifically for him. Mint-condition vintage 250 GTOs always command near-record prices, but given the unique pedigree and race history of the vehicle, it was able to beat out the previous record of $32 million (for another 250 GTO back in February of 2012) by a full $3 million.
