Recent releases from visvim have seen the label making a shift toward traditional Japanese construction methods and styles. For Spring/Summer 2012, the label unveils a short film highlighting its latest experimentation with the material Ramie from a village in the Fukushima prefecture. A textile that has been manufactured within the Fukushima village for over 600 years, Ramie is comprised through an elaborate series of handcrafted twists and knots that are condensed to form a threaded texture. Fully adopting the traditional materials and means of production into its seasonal collection, the video captures the hand-threaded progression of the Ramie material.
