Future Islands - Balance

Baltimore-based synthpop/post-wave outfit Future Islands present a visual companion for their recently unleashed new single “Balance.” The clip was directed by longtime band collaborator Jay Buim who also offered a brief description of the piece:

“Having known the guys from Future Islands for some time, I was really looking forward to hearing their new record. When I heard “Balance” I couldn’t get the imagery and vibe from Bruce Brown’s film “The Endless Summer” out of my head so I decided to create my own endless summer journey in the great state of New Jersey. I have been living in New York for some time now and even though it is so close, I still find myself missing New Jersey living. I also miss the idea of hitch hiking being a viable way to travel around so we set out to see if it was still possible to get to your destination by relying on the kindness of strangers. The couple in the video were willing to embark on an aimless adventure and documenting their honest and unabashed feelings for each other set to a Future Islands soundtrack is what made this video exciting to put together.”

In addition, the band has added tour dates in support for their their upcoming third album, On the Water, slated for an October 11 release through Thrill Jockey Records. Watch the video above and see the dates below.
