In this short, creative animated piece created for Umbro, famous New York Cosmos player Carlos Alberto Torres serves as a narrator, telling the story of how the first day he arrived in the states to sign his contract with the Cosmos happened to coincide with the notoriously chaotic city-wide blackout of July 1977. In order to commemorate this anecdote, Umbro has created a special line of products for the New York Cosmos appropriately dubbed the “Blackout” collection. Although none of the actual line of offerings is displayed in this video, it does an excellent job of explaining Torres’ introduction to NYC through some terrific black and white animation.
