Well-known for his familiar themes that range from life and death to beauty and desire, Damien Hirst is scheduled to present an exhibition entitled “The Dead and The Souls” in Auckland, New Zealand. While “The Dead” makes an overt reference to mortality with the use of skull imagery, “The Souls” uses the butterfly to represent the beauty and impermanence of life. Each of the series is made up of several compositions in various colorways and 15 limited edition prints. In addition to these two collections, Hirst will also be displaying several of his “Spin Skull” works alongside his famous piece Beautiful Apollo Idealisation Painting. “The Dead and The Souls” exhibition is scheduled to run from July 30 through August 27 at Gow Langsford Gallery.
