Last night’s 83rd Annual Academy Award festivities also had a few musical highlights in store. Besides delivering a stunning performance of her song “Going Home,” which was nominated for best original song, famed actress Gwyneth Paltrow revealed that her dream duet partner would be none other than Jay-Z. Paltrow told Tim Gunn on the Oscars red carpet Sunday:
“I think we’d be a good combination. He is a genius – and I’m his biggest fan.”
However, the big musical winners last night were Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor and co-composer Atticus Rosstook, who earned the Academy Award for Best Original Score for their work on the David Fincher film The Social Network. Trent Reznor’s Oscar win marks the fourth consecutive year that Best Original Score goes to a first-time winner. Composer Randy Newman claimed the Oscar for Best Original Song with “We Belong Together” from Toy Story 3. Congratulations!
