From LA-based artist Patrick Martinez comes an exciting and topical new exhibition, titled “Real Tawlk.” Featuring a collection of video, portraiture plush blankets and fabricated neon, the exhibition aims to comment on the current state of the union in the United States. In particular, “Reel Tawlk” is based on the idea that many Americans have begun to reevaluate their own definitions of “American.” To many this reevaluation was causes by the “Occupy Movement,” and Martinez articulates his views on this event via his Blue Without Green neon piece. However, the blankets are certainly the highlight, and are portraits of random everyday hard working people that he chose to illuminate for his cause. The exhibition is currently running at Loft in Space in Honolulu, Hawaii.
