Japanese label Blackmeans was formed in 2008, heavily influenced by the various punk movements of the 20th century; from early ’70s UK punk, to the crust-punk scene of Japan in the early ’90s. Utilizing the experience of Japan’s finest leather craftsmen, the brand takes historic, ethnic cloth-cutting techniques and reinterprets them in an innovative way that puts them at the forefront of the ‘New Tokyo’ movement.
