Amidst the onslaught of Occupy Wall Street branch-offs, a number of musicians have taken it upon themselves to provide a platform for themselves and other artists who support the ongoing protests. In accordance, Occupy Musicians has been created to account for an outlet for various musical individuals to come together and stand united. Amongst others, Sonic Youth, tUnE-yArDs, Fugazi, Lou Reed and Talib Kweli have recently joined the efforts of an already-impressive conglomerate of supporting musicians. The Occupy Musicians website plays a dual purpose – one as a public statement of protest, and the other to host a mixture of audio and video performances which will be taking place at several Occupy sites.
