Onitsuka Tiger GENTEN: First Steps "Roots" Video

Storied footwear brand Onitsuka Tiger, recently embarked on a journey to explore its deeply rooted origins and rich history. Spurred by a longing to understand his company’s underpinnings and vision, Onitsuka Tiger employee Mutaurwa Mapondera recently traveled to the brand’s hometown of Kobe, Japan to sit-down with five of the company’s most influential individuals. Reverentially referred to as “The Legends,” Mutaurwa’s interview captures an intimate glimpse into each contributor’s instrumental role during the brand’s early days. Episode one, aptly titled, “Roots” is the first of an eventual three-part video series entitled “GENTEN: First Steps.” Reflecting on their respective first-hand experiences with the company’s founder Mr. Onitsuka, each of The Legends offers a rare look into one man’s ambitious vision that has continued to maintain the relevancy of Onitsuka Tiger to this day.
