As part of some of Japan’s most well-known skaters/bikers in T19 and realmad HECTIC, YOPS has announced the debut of their instructional DVD set, Fixed Gear Bike “First Step”. With a strong fixed gear culture in Japan, T19 and the HECTIC crew make formidable teachers as they ride you through back riding, skids, back circles, lift ups and wheelies. As this represents Chapter 1, we expect a full out series on the way down the road.
BTNC (Beatnic) will be releasing the second installment of their New Era hat releases planned for this year at the end of July. The first, which was a Gucci inspired number, sold out in mere minutes, and this release should be no different. The three hats are inspired by the world wide sporting phenomenon, the Olympics. The gold, silver, and bronze embroidered BTNC logos are designed to resemble the coveted medals that are awarded to athletes in acknowledgment of their excellent performances on the grandest of stages. These will be released at BTNC in Fullerton, CA and they will be available on their online store beatniconline.com for those that are not in the area at the time.
Fresh off their recent collaboration efforts for various Freestyle model projects, Reebok kicks it into another gear for the ladies with the recent unveiling of the new Music Revolution pack releasing sometime this June. With a fusion of Punk Rock and Hip-Hop inspired motifs, this collection consists of 3 different colorways. Both rock styles feature classic leather and suede uppers along with much flashier patent leather straps, 80’s black and white prints and not to mention a creative silver chain link feature. On the other hand, the hip-hop version combines a black base with a very nice array of brighter colors, very reminiscent of ’90’s hip-hop streetwear. Both military green and white versions are expected to drop in June, while the black version is set for an October 2008 release.

While his original intentions were to document the world of graffiti, over this 9 year period, slowly but surely Mr. Brainwash went from careful observer to participant. Trading in his camera for stickers, he has gone full blown from his first works which included hand drawn stickers to giant billboard sized paste-ups turning him into a prolific Cali street artist. Much like popular cultural commentators of our time, Mr. Brainwash turns iconic pieces into his own statements. In his first exhibition “The Life is Beautiful”, Mr. Brainwash will showcase 300 paintings, sculptures and prints including an installation including 100,000 pairs of shoes.
