Our weekly top picks featuring our selection of the ten best stories of the week. Check out the run-down of the selections after the jump.

Resonate x Cause Saddle Shoes

As a personal favorite, Cause offers up something a little more refined with this Resonate headed collabo. Having followed their 2008 releases, despite having both sneakers and boots in their line-up everything is well done and executed with these no exception. The combination suede and leather upper creates a nice contrast on an overall pleasant profile.

Visim Folk Kangaroo Leather Lhamo FBT

The Folk FBT in its various forms this year has been among the strongest model releases however Visvim look to end things off with a bang with their k-leather version of the Lhamo Folk. Much like the well-received use of elk on many Visvim releases from backpacks to footwear, the use of kangaroo leather offers another innovative material use. Although a traditional mainstay on soccer/football footwear, there seems to a less common use outside the sporting world. Given the stretching capabilities of kangaroo leather, it makes a worthy choice for great fitting shoes.

The Hundreds Visit with SSUR

Shows like MTV Cribs and the quintessential “celebrity” show Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous with Robin Leach allowed us to peer into the lives of society’s respected personalities. Arguably one of streetwear’s most engaging characters, a look into the behind the scenes of Russ Karablin’s workspaces and retail front offer an intriguing look into how Karablin’s surroundings form the foundation of his work.

Clarks Desert Khan

Despite being one of Clarks most popular and visible models, the Desert Boot still made way for the creation of the Desert Khan. The DK is probably something that deserves a little more airplay as a nice low-top alternative for those wanting something a little sleeker.

Gallery1950 Wooden Slide Box

Gallery1950 puts out some interesting products to say the least resulting in some off-base releases including collaborative Porter cases for Nintendo Wii controllers. While I deem that a bit overkill, this one is definitely something worth checking out. A nice quality slide box which can essentially serve as a blank slate to put some creativity to work in addition to offering your prized footwear some protection from mold/mildew and infestations.

10.Deep 2008 Holiday “Get High Stay High” Collection

10.Deep’s presentation of their seasonal collections has always been something I’d admired and respected relative to the large number of brands who don’t necessarily prioritize the showcasing of their collections. This season everything falls into place from both the presentation to the apparel itself with a clean range of goods.

The Big Picture: 2008 in photographs

Capturing a moment in the past that is essentially lost in the fabrics of time, photography has been a form of visual communication that I’ve deeply respected. Perhaps the obvious reasons include the easy-to-relate nature of photography. I’m sure the 2008 in photographs feature could have extended far beyond the 3 part, 120 picture series which leaves you breathless upon seeing many of the images.

Extra Butter x Brainscan x Mishka Movie Night T-shirt

With nobody really doing things quite the same way as Mishka, Extra Butter’s relationship with Mishka’s distinct styles make for a collaboration that works well with their shared penchant for horror films. I actually hate horrors and will probably never watch Brainscan but I do appreciate Lamour Supreme graphic done up for the movie night event.

Lanvin Denim Collection by Acne

Certain conventions look to be broken when Lanvin and Acne team-up including the design of denim blazers.

Imaginary Foundation “I Dream Therefore I Become” Recap

I was instantly hooked with some of the pieces seen from Imaginary Foundation’s “I Dream Therefore I Become” exhibition as the vivid imagery left a resounding image in my mind. The use of cosmic backdrops creates a strong juxtaposition with tasks of painting and smoking performed by the characters.
