John Maeda is at the forefront of the innovative field of digital media and motion graphics. His impressive resume boasts experience as an artist, graphic designer, computer scientist as well as a current tenure as a professor at the world famous Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). His partnership with Reebok was a perfect fit due to his embodiment of Reebok’s values in individuality and creativity.
Much of Maeda’s designs are derived from mathematical algorithms and programming codes that showcase his ability to cross reference his background in computer science and use it in creating art. Hand written codes seen on the insole are the same codes which create the designs seen on the upper of the Ventilator. In some ways, you could consider Maeda’s designs as a simplification of technology. Creating a more understandable relationship between the overly complex world of technology and art.
The Reebok Ventilator Timetanium will be available only at the RbkCustom site starting November 13th. Price is set at $150 with only 100 pairs in existence.
