Marc Ecko’s second annual Save The Rhinos bennefit concert was held last week on Thursday June 8 in Central Park’s Rumsey Playfield in New York City. Despite gloomy skies, drizzles, and threats of heavy downpour, hundreds of fans still gathered to catch a New York summer hip-hop show like no other. This year’s lineup consisted of Rhymefest, HYPEBEAST’s very own guest blogger Lupe Fiasco, DJ Z-Trip, the legendary emcee Rakim, and Common. Guest surprises such as Rass Kass, Styles P, and Bilal also contributed to the already beefed up lineup. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Foundation as part of Marc Ecko and Ecko Unltd’s multiyear financial commitment and partnership to double the populations of the Indian, Black, and Sumatran rhinos–three of the planet’s most endangered species. (according to press release)
