I agree that gun grave,hellsing or even Berserk can seem lame, but have you tried watching the Hellsing Ultimate OVA series? Its based on the manga and really cool. Especially when they go to war against the nazi vampires in the end of the series! And the Berserk manga is much better than the anime so you could always try reading that. I cant stand the majority of the new animes that gets released. Its like they got nothing on the classics!

Yeah because only like the first 4 episodes of Hellsing is based on the manga, the rest of the series was made up from the company that made the anime, later on when the Hellsing manga was about to finish they started to release the Ultimate episodes so I would advice any one to skip the original one and just watch Ultimate!

been watching a lot of rurouni kenshin this week. shit was fucking slow and kind of random like a lot of old animes are early on in the series. just finished episode 31 though and now that it looks like there's a main story, shit is getting good.

dat kenshin vs saito fight was epic

you guys should check out Freedom. its a 7 episode ova that's VERY well done. story isn't all that original or deep, but its told really well and everything is well paced. animation is clean as fuck. sound and music is good and i hear the english dub is also really good. can't say for sure though cause i watched in in jap. strongly recommended

any of you guys heard or seen a series called mushishi? its pretty good. 26 episodes long and i've seen like 4 or 5. hard to say what i like about it. something about it is just calm and peaceful. definitely not something to watch if you're expecting action, comedy, or amazing plot.....like i said, not really sure why i even like it. i just know i do.

anyways, here's the overview of it i got from wikipedia

The story features ubiquitous creatures called Mushi that often display supernatural powers. Mushi are described as beings in touch with the essence of life, far more basic and pure than normal living things. Due to their ethereal nature most humans are incapable of perceiving Mushi and are oblivious to their existence, but there are a few who possess the ability to see and interact with Mushi.

One such person is Ginko (ギンコ, the main character of the series. He employs himself as a Mushi master (蟲師 mushi-shi, traveling from place to place to research Mushi and aid people suffering from problems caused by them. The series is an episodic anthology in which the only common elements among episodes are Ginko and the various types of Mushi. There is no over-arching plotline.

Lately ive been watching samurai champloo again and this one particular episode really got to me. If anyone hasn't already watched this show i recommend watching this episode. Good directing and sound track mixed by nujabes makes this one of my fav anime.
