Arnette Musicians: Why Del the Funky Homosapien Hardly Takes Off His Sunglasses
Arnette Eyewear introduces the first in its trio of select artists for its Arnette Musicians
Arnette Eyewear introduces the first in its trio of select artists for its Arnette Musicians series, Del the Funky Homosapien. Hailing from Oakland, California, Del got his start writing for cousin and fellow rapper Ice Cube before eventually dropping his debut effort I Wish My Brother George Was Here. Despite several years between solo albums, Del has remained a consistent presence in the industry, founding the Hieroglyphics Crew and lending his signature vocals to a diverse range of acts including the Gorillaz. Most recently in September 2013, Del teamed up with fellow Deltron 3030 members Dan the Automator and Kid Koala to release a new album titled Event 2, which the group is currently promoting on tour. In this glimpse into his life at work, he talks about his past, how he keeps tracks fresh and memorable, and the reason behind the shades that rarely come off. Stay tuned for the next feature in our series when we welcome San Francisco DJ Mike Relm.
