In 2004, retired Japanese soccer players Keiji Ishizuka and Atsuhiko Mori founded WACKO MARIA, a contemporary menswear label now known for its tailoring and decidedly American influences — Hawaiian shirts, popular music, girls and alcohol all factor into the designs, along with a good dose of irreverent humor. For Fall/Winter 2012, the brand has partnered with Japanese retailer Isetan on a capsule collection that showcases the heights to which WACKO MARIA has risen in eight years. In a focused offering of three items, the collection is comprised of a denim workshirt, tee and scarf showcasing an exaggerated star motif while premium denim, cotton and mohair make up each respective item. Look for the WACKO WARIA Fall/Winter 2012 Capsule Collection for Isetan Shinjuku from November 14-27 at the Japanese retail location, along with special promotional activities held in conjunction with “America Week.”
