In their own rights, Porsche and Vitra are known for design excellence. Now the German automaker and Swiss furniture designers are uniting for a special edition chair collaboration. Specifically, Vitra is crafting three special edition chairs for Porsche using the automaker’s original Pepita fabric.

The Porsche Pepita Edition by Vitra collaboration sees the Eames Plastic Side Chair Pepita Edition, ID Trim L Pepita Edition and Petit Repos Pepita Edition chairs – which are special updated signature models from Vitra’s catalog. Charles and Ray Eames designed the first chair, while the next two were designed by the Milanese architect Antonio Citterio. Porsche’s Pepita fabric made its debut on the Porsche 911 in 1965 and is comprised of a houndstooth pattern with small squares and diagonal stripes.

“The Porsche Pepita Edition by Vitra is a symbiosis of the DNA of our companies: iconic design paired with excellent craftsmanship and compelling function,” says Robert Ader, Porsche AG’s Chief Marketing Officer. “The timeless Pepita pattern gives the chairs a very striking appearance, whether in your own living room or in the office.”

To launch the collaboration, the chairs were revealed at Milan’s ‘The Art of Dreams’ event, which runs from April 16-21. The Porsche Pepita Edition by Vitra collaboration will be released online on April 22.
