Owner and General Manager of Concepts
- DisciplineFashion, Footwear and Retail
Deon Point, originally a contractor with a love for sneakers, applied to work weekends at the blooming Concepts and ultimately rose to the general manager position to which he holds now. The store’s formula for high-quality curation of products has made Concepts one of the greatest retail spots for sneakers, import fashion, collaboration projects and an overall shopping experience not commonly found in the states.
Along with an extensive team, Concepts have pumped out a slew of homerun hits, from its New Balance and ASICS collaborations and consistent partnership with Nike SB, as well as a few releases with smaller-yet-still-relevant entities like Diadora and Brooks. Additionally, Concepts found a temporary “pop-up” shop location late last year in the TriBeCa neighborhood of NYC which has thus turned into a permanent establishment. For its grand opening, the shop, quietly restocked some of the year’s most hyped sneakers and offered it on a first-come-first-serve basis. Naturally the crowd was too heavy to handle and the grand opening was shut down by the NYPD -- disappointing it may be for fans and campers, but a “shut down notice” so happens to hold a certain aura of success in the fashion industry. Nevertheless, Point and his crew have found their achievements in Concepts and is starting to really make some waves in 2015.
