Oakland-based Visual Supply Co, better known as VSCO, has not relented its firm grip on the smartphone photography front this year, on top of an ever-growing loyal fanbase for its desktop digital tools. The beginning of 2014 saw the launch of VSCO’s Artist Initiative -- a $100,000 USD scholarship which aims to discover, fund and advise creatives from across the globe. Additionally, founders Greg Lutze and Joel Flory’s efforts thus far were acknowledged by a sizeable injection of $40 million USD from a venture capital firm in May. In the same month we proudly unveiled our Hypebeast x VSCO preset pack that was an embodiment of the amalgamation of our two companies’ visual identities, as well as being a testament to our respect for the invaluable tools they have provided for the creative industry. VSCO went on to release the largest ever version 4.0 upgrade for the VSCO Cam app, which included an all-new iPad version as well as the introduction of VSCO Journal – a new publishing platform that encourages photography-focused blogging. As for next year, we eagerly await VSCO’s sustained efforts to continually reinvent the way we creatives work and play.
