Fiberop’s Alyasha Owerka-Moore worked on a collection for Altamont Apparel, head designed by Pro Skater Andrew Reynolds. Featured are cut and sew garments with outstanding sophistication. Based on a monochromatic palette the collection is of upmost quality and craftsmanship. In extremely limited quantities this collection consisting of a Garage Jacket, Mohair Sweater, Hoody, T-Shirt and Pro-Tex Blue Jean will be available for Altamont’s Fall 2008 Release. Be sure to check their website for further news on this collaboration.
Not much has changed since the birth of Fiberops. The garments still maintain the same quality and strengths while still maintaining a very focused direction and substance. Looking through the brand a trademark style of graphics, high quality Japanese selvedge denim and classic jacket styles are all representative of Fiberops. However as you entrench yourself further into what Fiberops represents, there’s a wealth of highlights and details. Whether it be pin-up girl buttons, slanted yokes or niche graphic tees, the brand at the end of the day represents wholeheartedly the lifestyle Fiberops represents. A look at their 2nd drop includes graphic tees, jackets and button-ups. Some stores have already received their collection, check your local retailers for availability.
Fiberops is at it again as they present a new collection featuring their low-brow and pyschobilly aesthetic, an ironic testament to a group that more often then most likely doesn’t care about fashion itself. As a brand with a strong interest in denim, they’ve released some innovative styles for 2008 Spring including their asymetrical yoke. Other releases include a t-shirt in remembrance of their fallen comrade Tabo as well as button-ups and sweaters. All of these should currently be in Fiberops dealers worldwide.
In a sea of collaborations, clothing brand Fiberops and concept shop UNIV poke fun at the current collaborative scene. The shape your own board affords you the opportunity for that DIY mentality, representing the philosophy of these San Diego brands. The FUNIV wheelie board is available now at Robust Flavor and UNIV (Encinitas / South Beach Miami).
Fiberops has always maintained a refreshing outlook, offering a distinct style matched by few. At the end of this month, Fiberops in conjunction with Lovewright Co., Bop n’ Stomp Records and Robust Flavor are throwing the “Garage-a-go-go BBQ” party to kick-off Fiberops’ upcoming pop-up store opening. A working garage will serve as the location for the shop with cars, food and bands all available at the party. The event starts at 12:00 pm and will end at 6:00 pm on January 27th.

It’s been approximately one year since the passing of Fiberops’ Tatsushi ‘Tabo’ Kagaya. Throughout his time, he’s had an unheralded impact among many things he’s touched. From his shaping of Hong Kong on a grassroots level to the friendships he’s developed, he has created a legacy not soon forgotten. Some of Tabo’s closet friends such as Know1edge, Fiberops and Subcrew teamed up to produce a special “Everything Happens to Me” trucker cap with proceeds going towards Tabo’s family.
Hong Kong based skate shop 8FIVE2 just released two new skate decks as part of a collaborative project. The two collaborating members include skater Kien “Donger” Lieu/Fiberops and Lodown Magazine. Kien Lieu is considered by many as one of the most promienent Asian American skater in the world and well known for his huge ollies while Fiberops has carved out a proper niche with their rockabilly style garments. Lodown magazine is a lifestyle publication which encompasses various elements of skate, graffiti, music and sports. Both decks are currently available at 8FIVE2 in both 7 7/8” and 8”.
