A little while back we reported on the “History is Made and Never Bought” collaboration between Ben Sherman and Baracuta. Ben Sherman is an original 20th century brand that celebrates its Mod/Ska association. Regular workwear and casual brands such as Schott, Carhartt, and in this case Ben Sherman are transformed into limited edition mutations via collaborations in Japan. This Ben Sherman x “Eliminator” collaboration is one such transformation. A standard narrow cut, that on close inspection shows extreme futurism. The materials, mesh, underarm breathability etc. go far beyond simple cut & sew. It is something you have to see to believe, and in contrast to bringing back a classic, Ben Sherman has brought the future to the present with a Jetson-esque fusion of the past’s interpretation of the far future. A few days ago we reported on the Fred Perry x CDG collabo for you. We also provided insight into the background of Fred Perry and its ties to early street culture in the 60s through the 80s. Ben Sherman also has similar ties to those eras and scenes in London, and their clothing is almost synonymous with a Vespa moped. Nano Universe, another Japanese boutique chain like United Arrows and Beams presents the Ben Sherman x Baracuta light jacket. The lining adorns a Fraser Tartan pattern and has the slogan “HISTORY IS MADE AND NEVER BOUGHT” printed on it. This case is an exception and you can buy this classic re-release, but it’s limited to 400pcs in Japan. Source: Nano Universe
