It’s hard to imagine streetwear and street culture without the influence of Tatsuhiko Akashi’s MEDICOM Toy. The Japanese company has been synonymous with the world of collaborations and collectibles since the advent of limited edition figures. Perhaps the most noticeable and ubiquitous collectible is the famous BE@RBRICK which comes in different sizes.
In 2020, it seemed like there was a new collaborative iteration of the BE@RBRICK releasing everyday. Everyone from fashion, art, automotive, entertainment, sports and more looked to release their own spin on the adorable toy. This year saw some far out creations from names like Canada Goose, CLOT, FazeClan, PORTER, Margiela and more. Other outstanding non BE@RBRICK drops also came from Hajime Sorayama for a 24-Inch chromed out T-Rex sculpture and artist KAWS for a re-release of his TAKE companion figures.
