Tatsuhiko “Ryu” Akashi is the CEO and founder of MediCom Toy, the brand known for its art-toy figurines and its popular line of BE@RBRICKs. The simple bear figure has won over the world with its countless reiterations, as the company regularly collaborates with brands from all industries. However, MediCom Toy is not only known for its BE@RBRICKs, as it was also behind the likes of the UNDERCOVER Gilapple, KAWS Companion figure and more. This year, MediCom Toy celebrated its 20th anniversary and rolled out BE@RBRICKs bearing the likeness of Astro Boy, The Joker, Ted, Batman and Superman, and more. It also collaborated with brands such as PORTER, BAPE, atmos, G-SHOCK and more. Most notably, the brand teamed up with UNDERCOVER on a Gilapple collaboration with Supreme in addition to bringing back the popular KAWS Companion toy for a limited run. It also hosted a charity exhibition featuring 37 fashion collaboration BE@RBRICKs.
