It’s been a whirlwind of a year for Kanye West. Politics and his run for the U.S. Presidency aside, the rapper-mogul was in top form in terms of product output, marketing and business strategy.

In footwear, West’s YEEZY x adidas sneaker releases felt endless as there was a drop almost every week. On top of the releases were leaks, teasers and previews of upcoming new models and colorways. Multiple versions of the YEEZY 700 V3 hit retailers this year as well more YEEZY BOOST 350 V2s. Basketball sneaker fans also got a bit of a treat as Kanye debuted the YZY BSKTBL Quantum and the QNTM Quantum lifestyle version during NBA All-Star Weekend. West was kind enough to hand out free pairs of the new styles in Chicago, causing a frenzy amongst footwear and basketball enthusiasts. Other models that made appearances in 2020 were the YEEZY BOOST 700 MNVN, the YEEZY 451 and YEEZY 500 High. A late comer towards November were new reflective iterations of the YEEZY BOOST 380.

In fashion, Kanye West proved he still had the chops for runway presentations when he showcased his YEEZY Season 8 collection in Paris. The clothes were vintage West; his designs once again centered around monochrome hues, cozy cuts and voluminous outerwear. Daughter North West also stole the show as she performed while models walked down the runway.

In late June, Kanye announced a 10-year partnership with Gap. The collaboration, called YEEZY Gap will have Nigerian-born designer Mowalola as its creative director. The 25-year old talent is known for her youthful and energetic designs. An unofficial catalog YEEZY Gap has already leaked and it looks like the first releases will have denim, boots, hoodies, tees, a bomber jacket, boots and the hotly-anticipated YEEZY Foam Runner.

In music, the 43-year old rapper was very active with his Sunday Service choir performances. There were services set up during NBA All-Star Weekend as well as a surprise presentation during Paris Fashion Week. As for new songs, West dropped a few loose tracks in 2020 with “Wash Us in the Blood,” “BELIEVE WHAT I SAY” and “NAH NAH NAH” that also received a DaBaby verse. In September, however, Kanye made the claim that he won’t release any new music until he’s freed from his Sony and Universal contracts. Fans will just have to see how this one pans out as 2021 comes up.

Kanye West in 2020 was also recognized by ‘Forbes’ as a billionaire. It was revealed by the business magazine that the mogul’s net worth is around $1.3 billion USD which consists of West’s YEEZY deal with adidas, royalties, stocks owned, real estate, and music and publishing rights. With his fortune, West was also pro active this year to the right causes as he provided meals to people impacted by coronavirus, made donations to various organizations as well as paying for George Floyd’s daughter’s college tuition.
