Prada is closing the decade strong as it enters it 106th year in the industry. With its footwear and printed shirts being some of the year’s most highly sought-after pieces, the Italian fashion house continues to be one of the most valuable luxury brands in the world, ranking 10th on BrandZ’s annual report from June. 2019 saw Prada collaborating with the likes of Universal Studios and rapper A$AP Rocky for his “Injured Generation Tour,” along with When They See Us director Ava DuVernay and visual artist/academic Theaster Gates for brand’s Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Council. The luxury retailer also advocated for a number of environmental initiatives to change the course of fashion, including a 2020 fur-free movement with the Fur Free Alliance, a 2021 goal to use only recycled nylon and participating in The Fashion Pact — a pledge to stop global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050.
