As Dior’s first female artistic director, Maria Grazia Chiuri has continued to lead the French luxury brand in a prosperous direction. For another year in a row, Dior was named the world’s largest apparel company, ahead of both Inditex and Nike. Most notably, Chiuri worked with famed designer Pathé Ouédraogo to pay homage to Nelson Mandela and celebrate African culture with an exclusive shirt. For her use of activism and feminism in her work, Chiuri was awarded France’s highest civilian honor, the Légion d’honneur, further highlighting the significant impact she has made at Dior. Chiuri continues to stress the importance of women’s potential and ability to change the world, giving the luxury brand a powerful new perspective.
