Takashi Murakami is an artist of countless accolades. Not only is he a key mover of Japanese contemporary art, but he also flaunts his creative prowess in the realms of fashion and music. In 2018, the 56-year-old multihyphenate mentored Virgil Abloh to launch the designer’s first string of gallery shows across Gagosian’s London, Paris and Los Angeles outposts. Murakami also launched his own monumental solo show called “HEADS⟷HEADS” at Galerie Perrotin in New York City and another at the gallery’s Shanghai location called “Takashi Murakami in Wonderland.” On the music front, he worked with Kanye West and Kid Cudi to create the artwork for their *Kids See Ghost* album, and more recently, Murakami launched a new Kaikai Kiki souvenir store.
