So playstation got their own smash brothers game.
Apr 27, 2012 @ 17:29
Um, this looks bad. It's SSB, that's all. 2012, and they're releasing SSBPS3, weak.

Apr 27, 2012 @ 18:56
Looks way cooler than Brawl.
I actually played Melee in tournaments downtown at a few gaming cafes, where the game became extremely skill based. Brawl couldn't touch Melee's tournament based gameplay, neither will this.

Apr 27, 2012 @ 19:21

Rumor: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale Characters, Stages Leak

Update: The NeoGAF forums have compiled a fresh list of purported (and still totally unverified) leaks that appear to have been extracted from game data in the recently-released PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale beta. Much of the data seems to come from this thread on GameFAQs.
The data includes confirmation of each stage’s name in the format: [date] [six digit number] display_level_[stage name].ctxr. So, for instance:
28/07/2012 11:02 PM 748,672 display_level_Alden tower.ctxr
There are 14 stages listed like this in the purported leaked data, and you can see the pictures of most of them in the original story below:
Alden’s Tower (Infamous)
Black Rock Stadium (Twisted Metal)
Columbia (BioShock Infinite)
Dojo (Parappa the Rapper)
Dreamscape (LittleBigPlanet)
Franzea (LocoRoco)
Hades (God of War)
Invasion (Killzone)
Metropolis (Ratchet & Clank)
Paris (Sly Cooper)
Sandover (Jak & Daxter)
San Francisco (Resistance)
Stowaways (Uncharted)
Time Station (Ape Escape)
A fifteenth entry is marked as “random”, almost a definite sign of a randomized stage select option.
Likewise, purported leak data shows all of the announced and rumored characters in the format: [date] [five digit number] css_character_icon_[character name].ctxr OR ui_cs_text_[character name].ctxr. So, for instance:
28/07/2012 11:02 PM 23,296 css_character_icon_coleevil.ctxr
28/07/2012 11:02 PM 54,784 ui_cs_text_colradec.ctxr
What’s interesting here is that the original six characters announced for the game (Colonel Radec, Fat Princess, Kratos, Parappa the Rapper, Sly Cooper and Sweet Tooth), along with Nathan Drake, are labeled with the latter format. All of the other characters -- some announced, others rumored in the leak -- are labeled with the former format.
As NeoGAF points out, this, coupled with the fact that there’s an “unlockable_icon.ctxr” file, indicates that there are unlockable characters. Our assumption is that the six originally announced characters, plus Drake, are the characters available from the get-go. Everyone else can be unlocked by playing the game.
Regardless, this data dump seems to confirm this as being at least part of the character roster, if not the whole thing:
Big Daddy(BioShock)*
Colonel Radec (Killzone)
Dante (DMC)
Evil Cole (Infamous)
Fat Princess (Fat Princess)
Good Cole (Infamous)
Heihachi (Tekken)
Jak & Daxter (Jak & Daxter)
Kratos (God of War)
Nariko (Heavenly Sword)
Nathan Drake (Uncharted)
Parappa the Rapper (Parappa the Rapper)
Raiden (Metal Gear Solid)
Ratchet (& Clank?) (Ratchet & Clank)
Sackboy (LittleBigPlanet)
Sir Daniel Fortesque (MediEvil)
Sly Cooper (Sly Cooper)
Spike (Ape Escape)
Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal)
Toro (Sony Icon)
* - Big Daddy is confirmed, but doesn't appear in the data leak.
Also in the leaked files rumored to have come from PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale are lists of items to use in-game, as well as characters called “Minions” that will likely appear as NPCs on various stages. Examiner.com broke down the items and Minions into something a little more readable, and also identified their game-centric origins. So here they are.
First, the items:
Atomizer (Resistance 3)
Baumusu Axe (The Mark of Kri)
Boots of Hermes (God of War III)
Dohvat Laser Designator (Killzone 3)
Freeze Missile (Twisted Metal)
Golf Club (Hot Shots Golf)
Gravity Shield (WipeOut)
Hedgehog Grenade (Resistance)
Leech Beem (WipeOut)
Murder of Crows (BioShock Infinite)
Railgun (Metal Gear Solid 4)
Razor Claws (Ratchet & Clank)
RPG (Uncharted)
Scythe (Fat Princess)
Sonic Rift (ModNation Racers)
Spear (God of War)
And the Minions:
Athena (God of War)
Captain Qwark (Ratchet & Clank)
Dollface (Twisted Metal)
Helghast (Killzone)
Kai (Heavenly Sword)
Kat (DMC)
Keira (Jak & Daxter)
Kiya (MediEvil)
Kuma (Tekken)
Little Sister (BioShock)
Monkey (Ape Escape)
Murray (Sly Cooper)
Nix (Infamous 2)
Pierre (Doko Demo Issho)
PJ Berri (Parappa the Rapper)
Sackbot (LittleBigPlanet 2)
Sam (Metal Gear Rising)
Sully (Uncharted)
Worker (Fat Princess)
Zeke (Infamous)
Finally, the rumored leaks also contain a list of what appears to be game modes and other randomness. As far as modes are concerned, here’s what it can be boiled down to:
Arcade Mode
Capture the Flag
Challenge Trials
Character Trials
Countdown Attack
Free Roam
General Trials
King of the Hill
LAN Game
Solo Play
There’s also random mention here of things like “Gold Stars Collected”, indicating that there will be an in-game “Gold Stars” system for accomplishing certain feats and tasks. Likewise, there are items mentioned called “Clue Bottles”, “Killer Bees” and more.
AI difficulty is also mentioned: Easy, Normal, Hard and Insane.
We’ve pinged Sony again, as we did yesterday when the story originally broke, and will update if and when we hear back from them. In the meantime, keep in mind that while all of this certainly seems real, it's still unverified.
