The partnership between NIGO® and j-hope began from a place of mutual respect and design sensibility. This new release reinterprets the refined vintage look of the Air Force 1, originally released in 2001, and incorporates elements of j-hope's signature energetic style, "Hobicore."

UGG® has long been loved for its sheepskin boots, originally worn by surfers to warm their feet after leaving the ocean. Starting from that core of soft comfort, this latest collection reexamines the brand's staples through form and function.

The Classic Micro Distort and Classic Distort Boot from the "Distort Collection," which adds a twist to familiar silhouettes, take the design codes of the iconic UGG® Classic Boot and warp, split, and expand them into something slightly uncanny. At the same time, they retain recognizable details like the twin seams and the Classic outsole, ensuring their identity as UGG® is immediately clear.

The Heritage Utility Grizz combines two-tone faux fur with functional details, expressing "comfort" in a new way. Building on the cushioning, traction, and protection of the Heritage Utility tooling, it incorporates ratchet straps reminiscent of snowboard boots to create a striking contrast between soft fur and rugged hardware.

For this release, Hypebeast Japan tapped rapper LEX to model in a special editorial. Hypebeast: How do the Classic Micro Distort, Classic Distort Boot, and Heritage Utility Grizz carry forward the UGG® DNA while evolving into new designs?

For UGG®, the brand's DNA is a crucial foundation for creating anything new. In these three styles, we carried forward the comfort and heritage unique to UGG® while applying different approaches to add fresh expressions.

What is the intent behind the asymmetrical stitching and distorted designs of the Classic Micro Distort and Classic Distort Boot?

The Classic Micro Distort and Classic Distort Boot are our love letter to the Classic Boot. We wanted to explore how far we could evolve it while maintaining its recognition as an iconic design.

Using the silhouette of the UGG® Classic Boot, the twin seams, and the Classic outsole as a base, we intentionally warped, split, and expanded the stitching, collar lines, and outsole to create a somewhat uncanny, deconstructed silhouette. Yet, we kept the presence that makes it instantly recognizable as UGG®. The goal of this design was to boldly transform an existing icon while preserving its essential identity.

What new expressions or character did you hope to bring to UGG® with the Heritage Utility Grizz's distinctively voluminous silhouette and fluffy fur?

With the Heritage Utility Grizz, we heavily featured two-tone faux fur to highlight the material's presence, reimagining UGG®'s "comfort" in a different form.

At the same time, we aimed for a shoe that lets the wearer assert their own presence through styling. It’s a bold style where you can feel the appeal of the materials and make a statement with your footwear. I think it’s perfect for anyone looking to have fun with a bolder-than-usual shoe choice.

How is the "Utility" in the Heritage Utility Grizz name expressed in the boot's design?

While fur is the main feature of the Heritage Utility Grizz, what I find especially interesting is how it's paired with utility-driven details.

By intentionally combining the soft texture of fur with rugged, functional elements, we created an unexpected contrast. We built upon the "Heritage Utility" tooling, which enhances cushioning, traction, and protection, and added a ratchet strap to the upper—something you'd typically see on a snowboard boot. Rather than simply following traditional codes, we blended new forms and functionality to evolve the look into something unprecedented while retaining the UGG® feel.

The Classic Micro Distort is priced at ¥35,200 and the Classic Distort Boot at ¥44,000, both available in Chestnut and Black. The Heritage Utility Grizz is ¥44,000. Vans Snowboarding has teamed up with professional snowboarder Ryo Aizawa to launch the Super Standard snowboard boot (Ryo Aizawa Black/Snake). The boot drops Friday, October 16, at the Vans official online store and authorized retailers. It is priced at ¥38,500 (tax included).

This model marks the first signature colorway for a Japanese rider in Vans Snowboarding history. Inspired by snowboarding's golden era in the late 1990s, Aizawa and the Vans snowboard design team collaborated on the color and design.

The boot takes the flexible, playful feel of the flagship Hi-Standard OG and applies it to a lower-profile design. It's built for versatility, handling everything from park to powder.

On the performance side, the boot features a V3 UltraCush™ liner equipped with quick-drying FlashDry™ technology, a V2 PopCush™ footbed, and a V1 Waffle Lug outsole made with All-Trac™ cold-weather rubber compound. Additionally, a V2 harness enhances heel hold to support traction, cushioning, and control.

Ahead of the launch, a premiere event titled "Searching for Ryo Aizawa" will be held on Thursday, October 15, at HVEN in Nakameguro, Tokyo. The event will feature an advance screening of a new film produced by South of France-based apparel brand Wasted Talent to coincide with the boot's release. The night will also include a Q&A session with Aizawa himself, a photo exhibition, DJ sets, and an unveiling of the Super Standard. Admission is free, and no prior registration is required.

With their latest footwear drop, Brain Dead and adidas continue to evolve their partnership, this time dialling in on the Bowling silhouette they introduced in 2024. Arriving in two animal prints, the streamlined leather shoe is updated with a bigger and bolder personality for Fall 2026.

Inspired by a 1978 adidas design, the bowling shoe is reimagined in both a leopard fur-style upper and faux snakeskin upper. It's a sharp turn away from the more subtle all-black and black-and-white versions they have dropped thus far. In keeping with the original model, the remainder of the body follows the classic details: gold debossing on the lateral and white, and serrated three stripes on both sides. Contrasting with the patterns are a black tongue, toe box panel, and heel tab embroidered with the Brain Dead emblem. Unlike a traditional sneaker, the rubber soles boast an elevated heel modeled after bowling shoes; however, Brain Dead noted that the shoes are not intended for actual bowling gameplay.

Fall/Winter 2026 has been a major season for animal prints, especially leopard, which has been seen in recent footwear releases like the Nike Air Force 1 Low "Leopard" and the PUMA GOLF x Saturdays NYC Clyde. adidas has already been exploring the pattern in similar ways to the new Brain Dead x adidas Bowling shoe, unveiling the adidas Samba Bowling "Leopard" in Summer 2026.

This season, Japanese footwear brand Flower Mountain diversifies its famously overstated sneaker library with a refined collection designed to function in both urban and rural environments.

Encompassing the new drop, the brand’s popular Yamano 3 model silhouette, which typically appears in clashing colors and patterned materials, becomes pared back with technical materials that are softened through tonal palettes. The chunkier Yamabushi also gets transformed with plush leather and suede panels layered across the body.

To support the styles, Flower Mountain launches a lifestyle line and a performance line, each featuring a series of brand new iterations. In the lifestyle offering, the trek-inspired Sanchia, Ranya, and Kazana Fall adopt curved lines and cushioned surfaces for a versatile look, while the Asuka 3 strips the runner silhouette of its panels and replaces them with stitched lines.

Meanwhile, the performance line focuses specifically on enhancing technicality. From the straps and ties of the Back Country 2 to the Vibram-soled Iwano 2, the components bring an added layer of support and protection, as well as a touch of rugged outdoors style.

Alongside the main collection, the brand also drops a special-edition capsule with the aforementioned silhouettes. Titled “Harmony of Traditions,” it looks more closely at Flower Mountain’s Japanese heritage by weaving traditional textiles like Mikawa cotton and Kurashiki canvas into an assortment of iterations.
