Description

EVISU is a Japanese brand founded by Hidehiko Yamane. EVISU derives its name from the Japanese god of prosperity Ebisu; the name was selected because money and fishing are among Yamane's favourite things. The brand is renowned for producing its denim wears through traditional, labor-intensive methods as well as for introducing premium-quality selvedge denim and custom distressing to the Japanese market, which then spread around the world. Initially EVISU’s production line created only about 14 pairs of jeans per day— that was then each caringly hand-painted with the now famous seagull logo. The brand at first was a labor of love as opposed to a commercial venture, and despite its worldwide success and critical acclaim, the brand’s mission to create high-quality products has remained unchanged.
