Discover how the creative director and designer embraces the beautiful chaos of parenthood without sacrificing a single drop of personal style.

In the quiet stillness of a New York morning, Justin Boone fastens a silver chain before reaching into his wardrobe. For the creative director, stylist, and vintage brand founder, getting dressed is a ritual rooted in personal identity. “When I’m getting dressed in the morning, fit, fabric, and function—like those are my three pillars,” Justin reflects, adjusting his beanie before stepping into a light-filled living room where his young daughter and son play across the carpet. His personal style is refined yet deeply grounded in the lived-in reality of fatherhood.

Becoming a parent didn’t narrow his sartorial eye; it expanded his appreciation for pieces that carry real utility and character. “Fatherhood changed my style,” Justin says, crouching down on the rug to hand a toy to his daughter. “I feel like the things that I wear now, I’m not afraid of getting dirty. They’re utilitarian, so I can do almost anything. Vintage pieces to me feel special when you can see somewhat of a life that was lived through them, and that’s what I try to emulate in my own clothing as well—designing pieces that make people want to live in their clothes.”

“Navigating through life as a dad, as a father, as a creative director, my biggest essential is a tote bag.”

Between managing design deadlines and family moments, the red Target bag becomes the quiet anchor of his daily movement. It is an extension of his utilitarian ethos, sitting comfortably in the trunk of his vintage BMW, hanging off an exterior balcony chair, or resting beside his laptop on a workstation. The bag doesn’t act as a forced fashion statement; instead, its bold bullseye pattern complements his double-denim aesthetic while serving as an indispensable tool for his multi-faceted day.

“Navigating through life as a dad, as a father, as a creative director, my biggest essential is a tote bag,” Justin explains as he walks down a city street, tote in hand. “I know that when I have my bag with me, dump anything that I need in it—some diapers, wipes, a juice box, my notebook, a really good set of pens that I got from Target actually, and I always like to have a camera on me. If anybody needs anything, I have it.”

Whether blowing bubbles on the living room floor with his daughter or stepping out to head into a busy afternoon of creative direction, the tote bridges the gap between home and work. It carries the tools of his trade right alongside the everyday essentials of fatherhood. As Justin loads his vintage car and heads out into the city, the tote proves that style is about carrying every part of your life along with you.
