Grand Seiko Drops Ginza Street Map Hi-Beat Limited Edition
With a street map dial in familiar powder blue shade.
Grand Seiko has revealed a limited edition tribute to its birthplace of Ginza, using a street map of the Tokyo district on its dial.
The Grand Seiko Heritage Collection SBGH297 is limited to 260 pieces and uses the brand’s 9S85 5Hz automatic movement, making it good for +5/-3 seconds a day.
The light blue shade is said to evoke the color of the afternoon sky above the pedestrian district renowned for its luxury shopping, where the Seiko brand was founded in 1881.
Seiko issued its own Ginza tribute watches last year, with a pair of Alpinist watches with dials reflecting the district’s distinctive cobblestones streets.
The 40mm stainless steel watch is expected to drop by the end of June but will be available from just five Ginza stores, priced ¥770,000 (approximately $6,000 USD).
Elsewhere in watches, Bamford London creates titanium Snoopy for inaugural Goodwoof event.
