McFarlane Toys Unveils DC Multiverse Batman Figures from 'Dark Nights: Metal' and 'The Batman Who Laughs'
Including a Batman and Doomsday hybrid.
Last weekend, comic book artist Todd McFarlane took to Instagram teasing the upcoming release of a DC Multiverse figure collection revolving around Batman, and now his toy company McFarlane Toys has unveiled four of different versions of the Caped Crusader based on two of its comic book series, Dark Nights: Metal and The Batman Who Laughs.
First up in the roster of four is a beast-like version from Earth-1 known as the Devastator, an unsettling hybrid between Batman and one of Superman’s deadliest foes, Doomsday. Described as a “nightmarish fusion” combining “the unstoppable might of Doomsday” with “the unmatched intelligence of Batman,” the figure encapsulates the villain’s savage expression. Second in line is the Murder Machine from Earth-44, a creation of Cyborg’s when he designed an immensely powerful A.I. program which turned rogue and misinterpreted its coding “to homicidal ends.” Similar to the Devastator, this iteration of Batman combines his “tactical brilliance” with the “technological power of Cyborg.”
Then comes the Dawnbreaker from Earth-32, yet another hybrid between the Dark Knight and Green Lantern. Being angered by the death of his parents, and without the guidance of Alfred, Bruce Wayne in this version is bestowed with the power of the Green Lantern ring, and “unleash[es] a wave of darkness across his world” when he allows the void inside to consume him and the ring. Finally, McFarlane Toys will be releasing a figure of the heavily-armed Grim Knight from the Dark Multiverse, whose origin Earth remains unknown. He is described as “one of the deadliest Dark Knights in existence,” using “the finest arsenal Wayne money can buy.”
Pre-orders for all four Batman variation figures will soon be available over at Walmart, retailing for $20 USD each.
