Experience the Hustle and Bustle of Hong Kong in This Captivating 'Planet Earth II' Hyperlapse
Complete with a David Attenborough voiceover.
For its season finale, Planet Earth II spotlighted the Pearl of the Orient in a high-octane hyperlapse captured by film specialist Rob Whitworth. The iconic series turns its lens to the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong rather than its signature wildlife captures. The nearly two-minute clip immediately immerses viewers into the city’s intricate maze of roadways, train lines and local streets. All in all, it’s filled with electricity and perfectly set against the wondrous voice narration of David Attenborough.
“By moving time-lapse cameras through cities we created ‘hyperlapses’ that condense space and time to give a feeling of just how busy cities can be,” explained the BBC of the process. “Then by using transitions between shots, rather than the conventional cut in the edit, we were able to go on a continuous, seemingly impossible, journey through the urban environment.”
