You may know Killer Mike from the NYC hip-hop collective Run the Jewels, but the 40-year-old Atlanta, Georgia-born Michael Render prefers to use his global outreach for the greater good. The Ralph Lauren sweatsuit-clad hip-hop artist, public speaker, barber shop owner, and political and social activist recently had a chat with Stephen Colbert to catch up on the rapper’s latest endeavours. From personal stories of how he got his stage name to his approval of Bernie Sanders’ social justice platform, Killer Mike also shares his preachings on how systematic, institutionalized racism is entrenched within the way American society is constructed.
