Stream Samo Sound Boy's Debut Album, 'Begging Please'

Begging Please, Samo Sound Boy‘s debut album, begins with a somber buildup, fittingly titled “Introduction.” The ascending synths give way to staccato piano-sounding drops, resulting in something that’s moody and reflective. As an album inspired by the dissolution of a relationship, it’s understandable why Begging Please begins the way that it does (not to mention its title). The album is, in Samo’s own words:

“A story about the last couple years of my life, told the best way I know how.” 

Influenced by Marvin Gaye’s seminal break-up album, Here, My Dear, Samo’s approach to his own seminal break-up release allows the beats and melodies to evoke the feelings. There are obscure soul samples here and there but for the most part, you’re left interpreting songs from their dance-focused structure and their titles. Begging Please, which drops April 28, is shaping up to be an album that allows you to leave your heart on the dance floor.
