BattleBots is Being Revived as a Reality TV Series This Summer

ABC is set to revive the Comedy Central series BattleBots as a reality TV show this summer. Entailing contestants entering their own homemade robots in one-on-one battles to win cash prizes, robots were placed in one of four categories in the original series and battled based on their weight class. We’re expecting the new series to feature thrilling drama involving a stronger and faster generation of robots, given today’s modern technology of drones, 3D printers, robots, self-driving cars and most notably, open hardware platforms. The show was last screened over a decade ago in which Comedy Central aired a total of five seasons from 2000-2002. ABC will reportedly be presenting six episodes this summer that will also be distributed internationally.
