A Mashup of Quentin Tarantino's Top-Down View Shots
A great perspective for establishing the atmosphere.
Whether you call it a bird’s-eye view, God’s eye view or simply top-down view, the altered perspective helps combine the characters with the atmosphere of the scene; Quentin Tarantino favors such a look and thus masterfully incorporates it into his films. Vimeo member whoispablo has compiled a mash-up of all the significant top-down scenes from Tarantino films including Inglorious Basterds, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained. Much like his foot fetish, the American director consistently relies on the shot in order to tell his heavy dialogue and character-driven stories. What do you think of the angle: does it help to tell the story, or is it more distracting than impressive? Leave your comments below.
